SEAF Invests in Leading Indonesian Artisan Bakery and Café

Jakarta, Indonesia 9 July 2019

SEAF has announced that the SEAF Women’s Opportunity Fund (“SWOF”) has invested in BEAU Artisan Bakers Pte Ltd (“BEAU Bakery”), a leading local artisanal bakery and café founded by Talita Setyadi.

BEAU is a specialty bakery café brand focused on producing artisanal high-quality bread and pastries using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Founded by Indonesian world-renowned pastry chef Talita Setyadi with a single product start in 2015, BEAU has developed its product offerings to give customers an experience that combines a coffeehouse, bakery, and a full-service restaurant located in South Jakarta, as well as being a leading artisan-wholesaler in the city.

Jennifer Buckley, SEAF Senior Managing Director, stated, “We are very excited to be partnering with BEAU. Founder Ms. Talita Setyadi is a visionary entrepreneur and represents the talented and confident women entrepreneurs that SEAF aims to back under the SWOF mandate. We very much appreciated Talita’s groundbreaking work building BEAU from primarily a single product company back in 2015 to the BEAU of today where it blends the experience of a coffeehouse, bakery, and a full-service restaurant all into one. We are delighted to see BEAU has become a strong brand that is well-known not only in Jakarta but in many other parts of Indonesia, and we look to support its further expansion through this funding round.”

Talita Setyadi, Founder and CEO of BEAU Bakery, states: “Though 61.2% of Micro and Small and Medium Enterprises in Indonesia are founded by women, this number is not reflected proportionally in the amount of funding going towards women-led companies. Therefore, I am excited to partner with SEAF, who are committed to bringing opportunities for more women leaders to grow their businesses to scale. Through scaling my business, I will be able to achieve my mission to grow more culinary talent in this country and help shape the future of this industry.”

SEAF will assist with the expansion of BEAU’s retail chain, centralize its production in a new facility and help improve the Company’s financial management to broaden its opportunities for business development.
