Moctar Sarr is a distinguished investment banking and private equity professional with over two decades of expertise that includes 12 years as an entrepreneur. He possesses extensive skills in multiple sectors, including banking, energy, telecommunications, financial services, IT, and agro-business, coupled with expertise in business law in the Ohada region.
His career began at Orange Senegal (Sonatel) in 2001, followed by roles at BNP Paribas Private Bank and BICIS. At SOPAF (Shell Oil & Product Africa), he managed a treasury with a turnover of roughly USD 900 million. He later served as Vice President at NEXT SA, overseeing international markets and corporate finance in West & Central Africa.
In 2011, Moctar joined Al Kamara Investment Group as Partner & Executive Director for Africa, raising and structuring about USD 760 million in financing. By 2016, he co-founded M&A Capital SAS, a diverse investment company in Dakar, and led it to be among the top 5 most active funds in 2020. He also co-founded Rijaal Holding and launched “Senchan Touba” in the FMCG industry.
Since July 2023, Moctar has been the West & Central Africa Managing Director at SEAF, a US-based fund manager, and the Manager of OYASS Capital Funds, a Euro 80 million SMEs fund.
A regular conference speaker and strategic advisor to the Senegalese Government, Moctar is educated from Saint Abraham school, Lycee Lamine Gueye, and holds a Master in Asset Management from ESLSCA Paris, along with an FX/MM Certification from Citibank College.
Moctar serves on several boards, including EDGE Institute, UJAAS One Limited, and SME Credit Pro Cameroon. He also chairs the Afridev Group and is active in the RHAEMS network and Hizbut Tarqiyyah Daara. A proud Senegalese, Moctar identifies as an African citizen, having worked across 18 African countries and counting.
