CEO Bert van der Vaart explains why SEAF focuses its work on what he refers to as “The Missing Middle” – small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs). They saw an opportunity to provide equity investments and technical assistance to entrepreneurs at SMEs who were filling those gaps and which provide the majority of new jobs in developing countries.
